And no I'm not talking about the Superbowl. ZING!
So that outfit I've been dying to wear all 30 for 30? The one I made you wait all weekend for?!
This is it. I would wear this all day errday.
Cargo jacket, new boyfriend jeans, sparkly flats, funky jewelry.
If nothing else, 30 for 30 always helps me focus on what feels like me. I've been following along (haven't we all?) with Audrey's Wardrobe From Scratch posts (and Frankydoodledandy's, too!) and I'm just so caught up in this idea of a closet makeover. After five months of blogging and two 30 for 30's, I'm finally getting a handle on what pieces in my closet look good and feel good. I'm seriously debating taking about three months' budget and just revamping my closet from the ground up. Total purge - everything mediocre out, replacements in. That's sort of the way my mind works though - once I know what I want, I want it now.
Patience has never been my virtue.
That, and this: some girls get a haircut after a breakup. I work on my closet. Though after seeing how hot Jess looks as a redhead, I must say, I considered it.
I LOVE this combo! On you and on me - I've been wearing some version of this sooo much recently (at least, when it's been cool enough). That's what's so great about the 30x30; realising what you actually want to wear :)
ReplyDeletelife-etcblog.blogspot.com.au
I know, you're my cargo jacket/vest twin!! Seriously I have no idea how I lived without it. 30 for 30 has taught me something different every time... this time the lessons weren't as fun, but GOSH it felt awesome to jump back in to my closet!!
DeleteI absolutely love this combo! The metallic shoes are the perfect compliment to your awesome jacket. I commend you for doing the 30x30. It just seems too complicated and I would probably get bored. Great job! Heather
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Heather! I saw these flats and I realized pretty much instantly that there was no way I was passing them up :)
DeleteHi Sam. I must say I love your plan of revamping your closet after a breakup.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is a clear winner to wear any day while staying stylish, functional, pretty, girly, casual yet super cute. Love your hair here, looks a little bit different, very natural toussled look.
I want to say I loved your 30 for 30 both times, especially the second time around. I have featured several of your outfits on my Week's Best Looks, including this as the latest:

One more thing, since I love your style so much how about a Guest Post/Feature on my Blog? I am running lots of Guest Posts through the month of February. Let me know through the comments and if you agree we will talk about the details. =)
Thanks and have a Fabulous Week! Ada. =)
Thanks so much Ada! I'll definitely head over and check it out. Shoot me an email about guest posting!
DeleteYou are too sweet darling, and I think you would be stunning as a red-head!
ReplyDeleteI love your "go-to" outfit, and am seriously swooning over those sparkly flats (I'm a magpie, I can't help myself!). I am trying to slowly add more "me" pieces that I LOVE (not like, but LOVE) to my closet, but it takes time, and I'm certainly still figuring it all out as I go, but how wonderful would it be to stock up on a bunch at once.
xx

I KNOWWWW, if it sparkles or glitters or shimmers I am soolllldddd. :) I know the responsible thing to do is to go month-to-month and build it up gradually, but it is SO TEMPTING.
DeleteI love your outfit here. It's simple but not boring, and I looove your sparkly flats!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm also following along with Audrey's Wardrobe From Scratch series on my own blog - check it out if you're interested!

Thanks Brynn! I'll definitely head over and check it out, this is such a fun series!
Deleteit's so much harder to find [and put together] the perfect casual outfit than it is to find a dressy one! great job here, i love love love the cool jewelry with the boyfriend jeans.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I never thought of it that way, but I totally agree! Give me a cute dress and heels and I'm off, but going to class? I'll stand in front of my closet for half an hour!
DeleteSam, I love this outfit...one of my favs. Isn't it amazing how we find what is really us and what feels right. I too am obsessed with my closet and making it over.
ReplyDeleteI support you entirely in the closet revamp, weeding out of what you feel is mediocre. The benefits will be so worth the financial sacrifice.

I think this outfit preeeeettttty much proves to me that it's way less about what you're wearing and waaaaay more about how it makes you feel. :) Let's be closet makeover buddies!
DeleteI am loving this outfit, the jacket and flats are really great pieces!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! They really have both proven to be crazy versatile and I didn't expect that when I bought them.
DeleteYour blonde hair is so gorgeous, stick with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks girl :) It's definitely my favorite color on me, but the itch is there!
DeleteSo cute!!! Love the jacket & the heels!

Melanie
Thanks Melanie!
DeleteI know why you wanted to wear this outfit! You look so good in it!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha well thanks lady! :)
DeleteGIRL YOU LOOK GOOD.
ReplyDeleteSimple outfits are sometimes the best. Though not knocking the rest of your 30 for 30 outfits, which were fabulous by the way :)
Can't wait to see how you revamp your wardrobe. and if you want to get rid of anything, feel free to send them to me! haha
You look really good as a blonde, but I'm sure red hair would suit you as well. I'm so jealous because I'm pretty much stuck with my black hair and anything else just looks wrong with my skin tone. I do wish I could play with hair colors but don't want to think about the cost of keeping up a good hair color.
See, I think it's always about wanting what you can't have. I love your hair and your complexion! But dark hair doesn't do the Megan Fox thing to me, it does the scary goth girl thing. I love how low maintenance brunette is as compared to blonde.
DeleteYou look perfect in the outfit, its your uniform! I love the BF jeans, I need to get a pair.
ReplyDelete-AJ
FitTravelerAJ.blogspot.com
It totally is my uniform, now if only I could wear jeans to work... ;) GO BUY THESE. I've been searching for boyfriend jeans forever and angels pretty much started singing as soon as I buttoned these.
Deletethis is like...my ideal outfit. I'm not even kidding! I bought very similar jacket in Germany back in November and I've only been able to wear it once! boo. can't wait for spring to get that baby out ALL THE TIME.
ReplyDeleteOh let me tell you, I wore this to go get on the plane. I was all "oh hey Houston's going to be warm I need a light jacket" but I FORGOT that whole thing where I had to walk through a blizzard to get from long term parking to the airport. #snowfail
Deleteoh, and no dying your hair.
ReplyDeletefine, MOM.
DeleteThis outfit is to die for so I can see why you were tapping your fingers waiting for the 30 for 30 to end.
ReplyDeleteAnd I promise, I was already thinking how fab your hair looks in this picture before I saw that you were thinking about changing it up. But if following your blog has taught me anything, it's that you can pull off just about any look.
Nicole @ Sequined Patterns
GIRL stop it I'm all blushy and things ;) If there's one thing following your blog has taught me it's that YOU can pull off any pattern combo, anywhere. I have you up on a little pattern-mixing pedestal :)
DeleteLOVE this look! Simple, classic and very fashionable! Looks comfy, too! Must say, your posts are inspiring me to do a 30x30 challenge...I think it'd really help me figure out what my go-to closet staples are- because I am getting antsy to do some spring cleaning in my wardrobe! I want to start fresh now that I've started blogging!

Thanks Valerie! You should SO do a 30 for 30, don't let my bad attitude this time around stop you! You will learn more about your closet and your style in 30 days than you can even imagine. Springtime always makes me want to change up my closet too :)
DeleteI love this casual look and it's so nice to get your closet back, right? I've been wearing comfy non blogable looks to work this week and loving every minute of it :)

Ohhhh man it's been heaven! If nothing else, the theme of this 30 for 30 was "absence makes the heart grow fonder!" ;)
DeleteLOVE this outfit! I could live in a look like this too...and how you're making me want a new pair of boyfriend jeans right this second! :)
ReplyDeleteJess - J's Style
Not to peer pressure you here (except yeah I am) but these are hands down the most comfy jeans I've ever owned. So there's that. :)
DeleteI love your jeans. I need to look at the Gap for some. I tried some on at Old Navy and I looked ridiculous...

Yeah Old Navy jeans do weird things to my butt. Sad but true.
