I'M A GINGER! AND I LOVE IT!
To be accurate I'm a purple-head, whatever that technical term is. Because a color called True Red/Pomegranate is more pomegranate than true red. So since that's not super professional/at all what I was going for (even though I lalalalalove it) I'm spending this week washing it out and toning it down so I can hopefully hit a more red/less Hot Topic color here soon.
I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I've been dye-ing (har har har I so punny) for red hair since approximately the beginning of time. Do you guys have any tips for getting to a fire red instead of a burgundy red? I've got crushed Vitamin C tablets, food coloring, and a new box color waiting in the wings.
I went from blonde to red two years ago. I'd been blonde my whole life, and I always wanted to be a redhead, so after my wedding I decided to just go for it. I DEFINITELY recommend going through a professional. Red is so hard to get right and so very easy to get wrong. When I had it done the first time he had to put like two or three different fixers and toners on before he even added the color. Red is also infamous for fading really quickly. He told me I would have to have it done every two weeks for the first few months, then I could switch to just once a month! Ack! Way too expensive for me. I ended up having it done every 3-4 months, and it actually held the color surprisingly well. If it weren't for my roots I could have gone longer.
ReplyDeleteI actually ended up going back to blonde recently. Red was fun for awhile and I'm really glad I did it, but it made me realize that I was definitely meant to be a blonde. I definitely got hit on a lot less as a redhead - though the wedding ring may have had something to do with it!
More on topic: LOVE all of these outfits! You rock those adorable blazers and colored pants!
I love it! I really wish I had red hair. A few years ago, I finally took the plunge and dyed it, but it was just such a hassle to keep up, so I went back to my natural dark brown color. I still think it would be fun to go red again someday.
ReplyDeleteA) love your outfits!! And B) get yourself into a salon stat, chica. Red is almost impossible to do at home and you don't want to damage your hair by trying to change colors. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWait but seriously, the twin thing is freakin weird. I am a ging now too. YOU LOOK AWESOME. Like a cute Ashlee Simpson. I love it!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love that bun on you. THese looks are all fabulous....you look kinda like a hot TV ADA:)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I would go to the salon for the red. Color is tough to do on yourself.

I'm totally loving all of your outfits. You have a great way of looking polished, professional, but not stuffy. And WOW on the red! I was scared at first but its growing on me. I have a red tint to my hair and I LOVE it, but my hair was brown to start with.

Aaaauuugghhhh Your outfits are ADORABLE!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI am a not natural red head, and my only advice: see a professional. Seriously, I have only ever heard horror stories about box red coloring. Not that yours is a horror story, I think you are the cutest pomegranate I have ever seen!

Just yesterday I was thinking about you and asking myself where the heck is she, probably met a rich sugar daddy lawyer at work and enjoying life in the caribbean where you got this pomegranate hair ;-) hehehe
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back my sassy nugget, totally missed your beautiful smile.
I love how you give those professional office attire that Sam stamp. Great how you incorporate colors to make it more fun.

I went red, a bright red recently. I used color ion brights.Like you, I am a natural blonde so I went darker first and then added red. I have re-dyed my hair twice. It is super bright, but also a super pain. When I wash my hair it is literally like a blood bath. I am going to go back to blonde after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI hope this helps!
